Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. seeks a Service Tech I to perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on rental equipment, ensuring safety and reliability. You will inspect diesel engines and electrical/ac systems, assist with delivery, and help maintain organized inventory while delivering strong customer service.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and growth within the Service Department, with opportunities to advance to higher tech roles based on performance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic knowledge of Diesel Engines, Vacuum Trucks, AC Systems, RV Systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use relevant hand and power tools.
• Superior customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance checks on rental equipment before and after use.
• Report machine condition to Management.
• Perform minor repairs and inspect oil, fluids, electrical, and AC systems; tag equipment for rental status.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Manage and organize inventory.
• Other duties as needed.

As a Service Tech I, you’ll use your skills (diesel, automotive or other mechanical) to perform maintenance tasks as well as minor repairs on equipment in a safe and professional manner. What you'll do:

• Perform maintenance checks on rental equipment before and after use
• Report machine condition to Management
• Perform minor repairs of rental equipment including checking oil, grease, fluids, electrical systems, AC systems, Plumbing, and tagging of equipment for rental ready status
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Manage and Organize Inventory
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Basic knowledge of Diesel Engines, Vacuum Trucks, AC Systems, RV Systems
• Strong mechanical aptitude including knowledge of tools applicable to position
• Basic plumbing knowledge
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
• This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures
