Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is the world’s largest equipment rental provider seeking a Service Tech I to perform maintenance checks and minor repairs on rental equipment. The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and teamwork across the service department.

Responsibilities include inspections, reporting conditions, basic repairs on diesel engines, HVAC, plumbing, and assisting with equipment delivery. Growth opportunities exist within the Service Department.

Qualifications

• Must have strong mechanical skills and ability to use common hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance checks on rental equipment before and after use.
• Report machine condition to Management.
• Carry out minor repairs on diesel/AC/plumbing systems and tag equipment ready for rental.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Manage and organize inventory; perform other duties as needed.

As a Service Tech I, you’ll use your skills (diesel, automotive or other mechanical) to perform maintenance tasks as well as minor repairs on equipment in a safe and professional manner. What you'll do:

• Perform maintenance checks on rental equipment before and after use
• Report machine condition to Management
• Perform minor repairs of rental equipment including checking oil, grease, fluids, electrical systems, AC systems, Plumbing, and tagging of equipment for rental ready status
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Manage and Organize Inventory
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Basic knowledge of Diesel Engines, Vacuum Trucks, AC Systems, RV Systems
• Strong mechanical aptitude including knowledge of tools applicable to position
• Basic plumbing knowledge
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
• This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures
