United Rentals is seeking a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech I) to perform maintenance and minor repairs on rental equipment with safety and professionalism. You’ll diagnose issues, demonstrate equipment to customers, and support pick-up and delivery while upholding service standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Basic knowledge of construction equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools applicable to the role.
• Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance checks on rental equipment before and after use.
• Report machine condition to Management.
• Perform minor repairs on rental equipment and tools, including checking oil, grease, fluids, and tagging equipment for rental-ready status.
• Demonstrate equipment to customers.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

As a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech I), you will use your skills in diesel, automotive, welding, or other mechanical areas to perform maintenance tasks and minor repairs on equipment safely and professionally. Every day you can improve and challenge yourself, with the potential to advance to higher-level Tech roles in our Service Department. You will also provide exceptional customer service to our customers.

What you'll do

• Perform maintenance checks on rental equipment before and after use
• Report machine condition to Management
• Perform minor repairs on rental equipment and tools, including checking oil, grease, fluids, and tagging equipment for rental‑ready status
• Demonstrate equipment to customers
• Assist with pick‑up and delivery of equipment and parts
• Other duties as assigned
