Service Technician – Class B
The Service Technician is responsible for performing automotive repairs and service in accordance with store and factory standards. This individual diagnoses and resolves automotive problems efficiently and accurately, working with all Service personnel and management to ensure customer satisfaction.
The Service Technician reports to the Service Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, following Lithia and manufacturer standards.
- Diagnose causes of malfunctions.
- Complete work according to safety requirements.
- Road-test vehicles to ensure quality of repairs.
- Record time spent on repairs using company procedures.
- Document work performed on repair orders and test results.
- Maintain an inventory of necessary tools and return special tools to proper storage.
- Use shop supplies economically.
- Keep workspace organized and clean daily.
- Return vehicles to customers clean and in good condition.
- Complete required training and maintain manufacturer and ASE certifications.
- Participate in technical training and review technical bulletins.
- Communicate effectively with dealership personnel to meet customer needs.
- Report safety or integrity issues to management.
- Maintain personal grooming and uniform standards, including proper attire and grooming.
- Adhere to work schedule and break times as designated.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to perform repairs independently in areas such as Lube and Maintenance, Engine, Suspension, Brake, Electrical, Heating and A/C, and Engine Drivability.
- Manufacturer certified in all areas listed above.
- Minimum of 3 ASE certifications, preferably ASE Master Technician.
- Experience with customer repairs, exceeding 105% Customer Pay Repairs.
- 3-5 years of automotive technical experience.
