Location & Conditions

Carlsbad, CA. Relocation assistance is NOT provided. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Must pass a comprehensive background check, including a drug screen. Work schedule is standard (Mon‑Fri). The work environment is an office and engineering laboratory/warehouse setting.

Role Summary

As a Service Support Engineer you will diagnose, calibrate, repair, and maintain sophisticated life‑sciences instrumentation, including flow cytometers, imaging/detection platforms, cell and gene therapy systems, and protein purification instruments. You will provide exceptional customer service while ensuring all repairs meet rigorous quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot instrument performance issues.
  • Calibrate equipment to meet specified tolerances.
  • Repair or replace components of scientific instruments.
  • Maintain accurate service records and technical documentation.
  • Provide guidance and training to customers on instrument use and maintenance.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree – required; no prior experience required.
  • Preferred fields of study: Engineering Technology, Electronics, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Technical certifications relevant to instrument repair and calibration.
  • Strong technical expertise in calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair procedures.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internal systems/data‑tracking tools.
  • Excellent documentation skills for service reports and technical procedures.
  • Strong customer‑service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Adaptable and willing to take on responsibilities outside the core role when needed.
  • Ability to pivot priorities quickly in response to business needs.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Daily work in an engineering laboratory and warehouse environment. Physical capacity to lift up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working with PPE and potentially hazardous materials. Ability to work independently and meet committed timelines.
