Job summary

Mossy Nissan National City is seeking a self-motivated Service Smog Technician with automotive knowledge. The role involves inspecting, servicing, and preparing vehicles to meet factory and dealership standards, with a focus on customer satisfaction and timely performance.

This full-time position offers great benefits and an immediate opening, with a base hourly wage of $34–$38 per hour. A valid CA SMOG license is required to perform duties and maintain certification.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics and repairs on new and used vehicles as needed.
• Perform smog checks and repairs on vehicles in a timely and efficient manner.
• Follow all safety protocols when performing smog checks.
• Calibrate smog testing equipment as needed.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and timely.

The Service SMOG technician inspects, service, and prepares new and used vehicles for sale according to factory and dealership standards, policies, and specifications.

Customer satisfaction is a result of your personal work habits and ethics and is of utmost importance as part of your job function. As a Service Smog Technician, the responsibility of customer satisfaction falls into the categories of completing the job correctly, cleanly, honestly, and on time.

The Service Smog Technician is also responsible for setting goals for personal service improvement and monitor progress against customer satisfaction index numbers and production numbers as provided by the Service Manager.

Employees in this position will be paid a base hourly wage ranging from $34/hr to $38/hr.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performing Inspections, diagnostics and repairs on new and used cars and assist other technicians as needed.
• Perform quality work without direct or continual supervision and be able and willing to work on all makes and models.
• Perform smog checks and repairs on vehicles in a timely and efficient manner.
• Keep up to date on changes to smog check requirements and regulations.
• Follow all safety protocols when performing smog checks.
• Perform basic maintenance and repairs on smog testing equipment.
• Calibrate smog testing equipment as needed.
• Complete all required paperwork and documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
• Stay up to date on new technology and developments in the automotive industry.
• Attend trainings and seminars as needed to maintain smog certification.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Help promote a positive and professional image for the company.

Qualifications:

• Must have State of California SMOG Test and Repair License. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Language Ability:
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. • Math Ability:
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Reasoning Ability:
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Computer Skills:
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, accounting software, internet software, order processing systems, data base software, and contact management systems.
• Education/Experience:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certificates and Licenses:
• Valid CA driver's license and good driving history
