Bring your skills to the 2020 Kenworth Dealer of the Year! Kenworth Sales Co., a 37-location Kenworth and Isuzu truck dealership group, is looking for a Service Shop Foreman (2nd Shift) to join our Richmond, VA team.

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Shop Foreman is to assign, supervise, and verify the quality of work performed by the Service Technicians.

Note: Due to federally mandated DOT regulations, Kenworth Sales Company is a drug-free workplace. Any employment offer is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug screening.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain Service Shop capacity control and communicate capacity status throughout the day with Service Writer/Production Control.
  2. Receive work orders from Service Writer and assign work to Service Technicians based on their skill level and the required completion time.
  3. Perform quality control checks on each service project and provide technician training.
  4. Coordinate communication between Service Writer and Service Technician regarding services, repairs, costs, and completion times.
  5. Control the actual time spent by Service Technicians on each job, especially for flat rate jobs.
  6. Manage purchase, usage, and replacement of special tools and equipment.
  7. Supervise janitorial maintenance of the Service facility.
  8. Assist Service Writer, Service Manager, Production Control, and Warranty Administrator in their duties.
  9. Maintain understanding of warranty policies and procedures of vendors and Kenworth.
  10. Stay trained on specialized materials, equipment, and safety techniques, attending training sessions as required.
  11. Generate and maintain all work and repair orders, and assist customers in identifying needed services.
  12. Coordinate all customer contact related to repairs, estimates, service appointments, authorizations, and inquiries.
  13. Calculate and review labor charges, and close repair orders efficiently.
  14. Ensure timely, courteous relations with customers and analyze quality control reports.
  15. Promote sales of labor, parts, and accessories during customer interactions.
  16. Monitor and close open repair orders promptly, troubleshoot delays, and resolve issues quickly.
  17. Issue and manage work-related injury reports and ensure proper medical treatment for injured employees.
  18. Assist other departments like Warranty, Credit, and Production Control in their duties.
  19. Verify open charge account status prior to accepting P.O.s and updating estimates.
  20. Maintain friendly relationships with customers and employees, providing necessary assistance and information.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the truck service field.
  • CDL license or ability to obtain one, with a good driving record.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with good organizational skills.
  • Experience in training mechanics and troubleshooting mechanical problems.
  • Ability to schedule, assign, and review work in process.
  • Capability to road test vehicles and ensure quality control.
  • Supervisory skills to manage shop housekeeping, tools, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills with customers and team members.
  • Vendor knowledge and professional appearance.
  • Proficiency in computer and technology use.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
