Job summary

Atlanta Fork Lifts, Inc. is seeking a Shop Technician to perform advanced repairs on industrial equipment in our Atlanta service shop. The role reports to the Shop Foreman and involves coordinating with the Service Writer and parts teams to determine parts needs and labor estimates.

You will ensure work is completed efficiently and safely, with proper inspection before release. The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of related experience, holds a high school diploma and a Certified Forklift Operator

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; forklift certification a must.
• Experience with repairs, maintenance, and rebuilding of industrial equipment.
• Ability to read manuals/diagrams and test using meters/computers.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced repairs on industrial equipment to restore safe operation.
• Coordinate with Service Writer and parts departments for parts and labor estimates.
• Keep work area clean and safe; maintain safety policies.
• Complete warranty and company paperwork; test and inspect finished work.
• Lift up to 75 lbs; operate lift trucks and cranes as needed.
• Attend training to stay current on products and methods.

SUMMARY

The primary function of this position is to perform advanced repairs on industrial equipment. Perform necessary service, preventative maintenance, repairs, replacements, installations, or re-building of components to restore equipment to safe and proper operation.

Description

The Rental Service shop technician which will work under the supervision of the Shop Foreman to receive jobs for inspection and assessment of needed repairs. You will be required to coordinate with the Service Writer and parts departments to determine parts needs and calculate labor to complete each repair. You will also be required to complete all work within an allotted amount of time and inspect each job for proper/safe operation prior to release.

Skills/Responsibilities

• Manage work and shop area to keep clean and safe in compliance with all safety policies.
• Complete all paperwork for company, warranty and customer records.
• Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot engines, engine fuel systems, transmissions, or other components on material handling equipment.
• Competent use of meters, measuring devices & computers to test & recalibrate equipment, completes warranty paperwork. Maintain safety equipment as required by departments.
• Use hand & power tools to remove, install, replace, re-build, repair & test parts/equipment on engines, engine fuel systems, transmissions, and other components.
• Safely use lift trucks, overhead cranes, & other aides to lift or move parts into position to be repaired.
• Use miscellaneous resources & computers to reference parts, get information about parts & enter data.
• Climb up onto, under, & into vehicles, use hand & power tools to disassemble/reassemble sheet metal, engines, transmissions, fuel systems, & other parts or equipment.
• Attend training classes and keep current on product advancements.
• Assist in building maintenance and housekeeping projects.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. (and occasionally in excess of 75 lbs.)

Work Experience Requirements

• 2-5 years’ experience in related field.

Education/Certification/License Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be a Certified Forklift Operator

Work Conditions/Physical Demands

Work is performed in a maintenance shop environment with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, or solvents which require proper knowledge of safety procedures. Must have the physical ability to perform continuously with full body motion for climbing, reaching, pushing, and lifting.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. (and occasionally in excess of 75 lbs.).

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
