Job summary

Atlanta Fork Lifts, Inc. is seeking a Rental Service shop technician to perform advanced repairs on industrial equipment. The role involves inspection, calculation of labor, and ensuring safe operation before release of repaired equipment.

Under supervision of the Shop Foreman, you will coordinate with Service Writer and parts departments to determine parts needs and complete all required warranty documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified forklift operator required.
• 2–5 years in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage work and shop area to keep clean and safe in compliance with safety policies.
• Complete all paperwork for company, warranty and customer records.
• Troubleshoot engines, fuel systems, transmissions, or other components using manuals and parts diagrams.
• Use meters and computers to test and recalibrate equipment; document results.
• Use hand and power tools to remove, install, replace, rebuild, and test parts/equipment.
• Safely lift/move parts using lift trucks, cranes or other aids.
• Refer to parts databases to obtain information and enter data.
• Climb onto/under vehicles to disassemble/reassemble components.
• Attend training classes to stay current on product advancements.
• Assist in maintenance and housekeeping projects.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs (sometimes more).

SUMMARY

The primary function of this position is to perform advanced repairs on industrial equipment. Perform necessary service, preventative maintenance, repairs, replacements, installations, or re-building of components to restore equipment to safe and proper operation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Rental Service shop technician which will work under the supervision of the Shop Foreman to receive jobs for inspection and assessment of needed repairs. You will be required to coordinate with the Service Writer and parts departments to determine parts needs and calculate labor to complete each repair. You will also be required to complete all work within an allotted amount of time and inspect each job for proper/safe operation prior to release.

• Manage work and shop area to keep clean and safe in compliance with all safety policies.
• Complete all paperwork for company, warranty and customer records.
• Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, parts diagrams to troubleshoot engines, engine fuel systems, transmissions, or other components on material handling equipment.
• Competent use of meters, measuring devices & computers to test & recalibrate equipment, completes warranty paperwork. Maintain safety equipment as required by departments.
• Use hand & power tools to remove, install, replace, re-build, repair & test parts/equipment on engines, engine fuel systems, transmissions, and other components.
• Safely use lift trucks, overhead cranes, & other aides to lift or move parts into position to be repaired.
• Use miscellaneous resources & computers to reference parts, get information about parts & enter data.
• Climb up onto, under, & into vehicles, use hand & power tools to disassemble/reassemble sheet metal, engines, transmissions, fuel systems, & other parts or equipment.
• Attend training classes and keep current on product advancements.
• Assist in building maintenance and housekeeping projects.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. (and occasionally in excess of 75 lbs.)

Work Experience Requirements

• 2-5 years’ experience in related field.

Education/Certification/License Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be a Certified Forklift Operator

Work Conditions/Physical Demands

Work is performed in a maintenance shop environment with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, or solvents which require proper knowledge of safety procedures. Must have the physical ability to perform continuously with full body motion for climbing, reaching, pushing, and lifting.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. (and occasionally in excess of 75 lbs.).

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
