Job summary

OWL Services is seeking a Service Professional IV to perform repair and service work on electronic, hydraulic and mechanical petroleum equipment at various customer sites across the Houston area.

The role requires 7+ years of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work independently or on a team. Expect heavy driving, troubleshooting and on-site installations with a focus on safe, reliable operation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 7+ years in mechanical, fuel, electrical systems or related repair work.
  • Valid driver's license required; Hazwoper and related certifications preferred.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical equipment; strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team in customer locations.

Responsibilities

  • Service and repair electronic, hydraulic and mechanical petroleum equipment; provide superior customer service; troubleshoot and repair to ensure proper operation; daily driving between customer locations and project sites.
  • Communicate status of work orders to dispatch; document time and repairs clearly.
  • Collaborate with other technicians on servicing, repairing and installing equipment.
  • Maintain accuracy of parts inventory in service vehicle and assist with transfers and returns.

Job Description

To perform repair and service work on electronic, hydraulic and/or mechanical petroleum equipment and products as applicable.

What You’ll Do
  • 50%: Service and repair electronic, hydraulic and mechanical petroleum equipment and any other petroleum equipment in the service field while providing superior customer service to all current and potential customers. Troubleshoot and make repairs to ensure proper operations. Install, program and test newly installed equipment. This position requires daily driving between various customer locations and project sites.
  • 20%: Communicate with service dispatch team on the status of work orders and service jobs. Open and close work orders with dispatch team. Provide service repair narratives (written and verbal) for our customers, submit paperwork for time worked and repairs completed in a neat, accurate and timely manner.
  • 15%: Collaborate/train with other service technicians on servicing/repairing/installing equipment and other essential functions of the position.
  • 10%: Monitors and is accountable for accuracy of parts inventory in service vehicle including, but not limited to, transfers of parts to appropriate jobs and other service techs as applicable as well as returns to warehouse facilities.
  • 5%: Other duties as assigned.
  • Working Hazards: Works in an environment with potential exposure to fumes, dirt, noise, equipment movement dangers, vibrations, dangerous chemical/solvents, electrical shock, and inclement temperature extremes.
  • Physical/Mental Exertion: Ability to perform heavy physical labor exerting up to 50 pounds of force on an occasional basis and up to 20 pounds of force on a frequent basis performing such tasks as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in mechanical systems, fuel systems, electrical systems, construction or related repair work experience is required.
  • Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license is required (Class E in MO). Technicians must maintain a good driving record. Current manufacturer and safety certifications (Eg: Wayne, Gilbarco Veeder Root, Franklin Fueling, LOB etc.) required prior to hire; Hazwoper and Wayne certified preferred. The job typically requires completion of a formal technical program and 7+ years of previous experience, or equivalent.
  • Technical Abilities: Electrical knowledge and excellent mechanical abilities. Ability to operate mechanical equipment and machines as described.
  • Autonomy/Direction: Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Required to make quick decisions in the field without management assistance. Work assignments may be varied and complex. This employee works independently or as a member of a team installing, servicing or repairing equipment at a customer location. Incumbents may suggest modifications of equipment or installation to meet customer requirements. Work may include training and leading work direction of other technicians Ability to teach and coach junior technicians on proper troubleshooting techniques and is required to make quick decisions in the field without management assistance.
  • Tools and Equipment: Ability to perform manual technical, mechanical and service work and equipment operation as described. Knowledge and experience with computer programs (Mobile web‑based applications, Basic Microsoft Excel).
