Job summary

Jim Burke Ford Lincoln in Bakersfield, CA, is seeking a Service Porter to greet customers, move vehicles, and maintain a clean service area. The role requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to drive automatic and manual transmissions, and a strong customer-service mindset.

You will assist with transporting customers, protecting and cleaning vehicles, and supporting shop operations. This position offers growth opportunities and a fast-paced team environment with standard dealership

Responsibilities

• Greet customers in the service department and attend to their needs.
• Drive vehicles to and from service areas and lot.
• Install protective coverings and tag vehicles.
• Disinfect vehicles coming to and leaving the dealership.
• Maintain service drive appearance and cleanliness.
• Transport customers to/from their home when needed.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Ensure documentation is complete and compliant with regulations and standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Service Porter helps ensure complete customer satisfaction by greeting customers, moving vehicles in and around the service area/lot, maintaining the cleanliness of vehicles and the service area, delivering vehicles to customers after service is complete, and transporting customers to/from their home when needed.

The Service Porter helps ensure complete customer satisfaction by greeting customers, moving vehicles in and around the service area/lot, maintaining the cleanliness of vehicles and the service area, delivering vehicles to customers after service is complete, and transporting customers to/from their home when needed.

The ideal candidate has a high energy level, a desire to work in a fast paced environment, a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, and some related experience. Candidates must be able to drive both manual and automatic transmissions and work productively in a fast-paced team environment and must have a positive attitude, professional appearance, great communication skills, and the ability to deliver world class customer service.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes customers to the service department and attends to their needs
• Drives vehicles to and from service areas and lot as needed
• Installs protective coverings (seat covers, steering wheel covers, floor mats, etc.) and tags in all vehicles brought in for service
• Disinfects each vehicle coming and leaving the dealership
• Follows all safety and security procedures
• Washes and cleans vehicles as needed
• Helps maintain the appearance of the service drive by cleaning driveway, removing dust and debris as necessary
• Helps maintain shop cleanliness, including windows, doors, floors, etc.
• Transports customers to and from their home when needed and requested
• Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
• Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role a plus

• Must be able to operate motor vehicles in tight and small spaces
