Job summary

Southland Industries, Inc. is seeking a Service Operations Manager to guide service technicians through supervisory leadership, ensuring safe, high-quality maintenance and repairs for commercial systems.

You will own the service book of business, drive growth and profitability, coach teams, enforce safety compliance, and collaborate with account managers to align service scope with client needs. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • 7 years of service maintenance/repair experience in the mechanical industry, including lead roles.
  • OSHA-30 certification required within six months of hire.
  • Valid U.S. Driver License with clean driving record.
  • Trade/technical training preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for delivery and financial performance of service book of business (Service Agreements, Repairs, T&M).
  • Lead teams through supervisors; monitor performance and provide coaching and development.
  • Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management across projects.
  • Provide technical support to supervision and technicians as needed.
  • Assist with service quotes and estimates to support sales and growth initiatives.
  • Review financial statements and performance data to identify cost reductions and improvements.
  • Coordinate with account managers to understand customer scope before repairs or contracts.
  • Visit job sites to evaluate technician performance and safety compliance.
  • Oversee procurement of supplies and equipment for technicians.
  • Lead hiring, training, and development; conduct team meetings.

Job description

Manages teams of service technicians through service supervisors in the safe and efficient servicing of commercial industry trades, equipment, components & systems.

  • Directly responsible for the overall delivery and financial performance of a book of business - made up of Service Agreements, Quoted Repairs and T&M (Time & Material) Work.
  • Manages assigned teams typically lead by supervisors. Manages and monitors team performance. Communicates goals and provides performance appraisals to direct reports. Provides coaching, training and development plans as appropriate.
  • Manages teams to meet growth and profitability goals. Ensures technicians adhere to all legal, regulatory compliance, safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to supervisor and technicians as needed.
  • Assists with service quotes and estimates to support sales and growth initiatives. Assists sales staff, as requested, with collecting data necessary to assemble accurate and timely service estimates.
  • Manages and reviews financial statements, sales and activity reports, or other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievements and identifies areas needing cost reduction or program improvement.
  • Monitors work performed to ensure quality of work, cost estimates and customer expectations are met.
  • Coordinates with account managers to discuss and fully understand customer scope of service prior to assuming responsibility for quoted repairs or new maintenance contracts.
  • Visits job sites to evaluate technician abilities, performance, and safety compliance.
  • Manages the selection, ordering and delivery of supplies and equipment for technicians on assigned projects.
  • Strengthens customer relationship and investigates customer complaints to help remedy the situation and promptly implement corrective measures as required. Identifies trends and recommends sustainable solution to the next level of management as appropriate.
  • Actively involved in the hiring, development and counseling of employees, including developing and conducting group meetings and training employees.
  • Performs additional assignments as requested/needed.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED
  • 7 years of experience performing service maintenance and repair work within the mechanical industry, including lead experience
  • OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire)
  • Valid U.S. Driver License and clean driving record
  • Successful completion of a trade/technical training program preferred
  • Working knowledge of business/industry practices, processes and standards
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to successfully lead a team and motivate workers
  • Good Microsoft Office skills and other related business application
