Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a Service Manager to drive high customer satisfaction and lead a service and back-office team during exciting growth. The ideal candidate will own the Division service management, with experience in fire detection, protection, security, and electrical systems.

The role demands strong leadership, effective communication with diverse stakeholders, and a focus on budget, revenue, and gross margin targets within a national organization.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a service operations management role in fire detection/protection/security.
  • Strong communication with leadership, regional staff, customers, and vendors.
  • Proven leadership with ability to build a high-performing team.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
  • Understanding of P&L and financial drivers.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to work independently and stay organized.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the service department of the assigned Division.
  • Supervise, train, and develop all branch associates.
  • Schedule, execute, billing and completion of service, warranty, and emergency jobs.
  • Execute service inspections on time and resolve deficiencies.
  • Develop a budget and meet revenue and gross margin targets.
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, subcontractors to meet goals.
  • Deliver projects within budget; perform monthly financial performance analysis.
  • Report information to management and take corrective action as needed.
  • Efficient asset management (inventory, service vehicles).
  • Build a high-performance culture with annual reviews and development initiatives.
  • Manpower planning and allocation; support growth of the division.
  • Support customer satisfaction and cash collections; collaborate with sales/installation teams.
  • Control and calibration of inspection, measuring, testing equipment.
  • Ensure safety culture and compliance with safety initiatives.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards; NICET preferred.

THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a Service Manager who is a positive change agent and can drive high customer satisfaction, while leading a service team along with a back-office team to support a business that is experiencing exciting growth. This opportunity is ideal for someone who has experience managing a team in the fire detection, protection, security, and electrical industries and is ready to assume ownership of a Division service management role, while being part of a vibrant national organization.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (and doing well!)
  • Manage the service department of assigned Division.
  • Supervise, train, and develop all branch associates, including technicians, service coordinators, billing coordinators, and dispatchers.
  • Responsible for the scheduling, execution, billing and completion of service, warranty, and emergency jobs.
  • Responsible for executing service inspections on time and resolution of system deficiencies.
  • Responsible for developing a budget and meeting revenue and gross margin targets.
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to execute plans, programs, and processes designed to meet or exceed goals and maximize market potential.
  • Responsible for delivering projects within the original budgeted cost.
  • Responsible for executing monthly financial performance analysis.
  • Reports the information in an effective manner to management and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Responsible for efficient asset management, such as inventory and company service vehicles.
  • Responsible for building a high-performance culture to include annual performance reviews and development initiatives.
  • Responsible for manpower planning and allocation.
  • Responsible in part for customer satisfaction and cash collections.
  • Works closely with the sales and installation teams to support the growth and profitability of the Division.
  • Responsible for control and calibration of inspection, measuring, and testing equipment.
  • Responsible to ensure all employees embrace our safety culture and comply with all safety initiatives.
WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU
  • Two to five years of experience in a service operations manager role within the fire detection, fire protection, or security environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to a diverse group of individuals, including company leadership, regional staff, customers, and vendors.
  • Strong, positive team builder with leadership ability.
  • Knowledge of current fire alarm, clean agent/special hazard fire suppression, or security systems.
  • Strong understanding of Profit and Loss statements and key financial drivers.
  • Ability to attract, develop, grow, and retain a team.
  • Ability to understand the technical aspects of the product lines and applications as necessary to make informed management decisions.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in NFPA codes and standards.
  • Strong computer skills; proficient at Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • NICET Level II preferred.
