Job Summary

Pico Propane and Fuels, a Meritum Energy Holdings Company in Carlsbad, NM, is seeking an experienced Service Installer with a CDL. The service technician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of propane/fuel equipment, in addition to providing propane and/or refined fuel deliveries in a safe and efficient manner, with a key focus on customer satisfaction.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Travels to customers' homes or place of business
• Preps, stages, and installs tanks for new customers
• Repairs equipment such as LP furnaces, water heaters, and LP appliances
• Suggests areas where equipment should be set up and conducts site surveys
• Troubleshoots problems with existing equipment
• Tests old and new installations and verifies connections
• Provides customers with verbal and written operating instructions for new equipment
• Maintains equipment and cleans up after the job is complete
• Records and maintains stock levels
• Maintains the work vehicle and performs general vehicle maintenance

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven work experience as a fuel delivery driver and licensed service technician
• Advanced knowledge of propane (LP) systems
• Ability to obtain the NM LP‑3 propane certification within twelve (12) months of employment (if not already certified)
• Ability to obtain the NM Class5 (service and installation) certification within twelve (12) months of employment (if not already certified)
• Willingness to learn and grow
• Customer‑service oriented with a passion for exceeding expectations
• Ability to solve problems and repair equipment onsite
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Education, Certification, Licenses

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• CDL A or B required
• Service technician license highly preferred but not required

Physical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 100 lbs for approximately 90% of the work shift
• Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle multiple times per work shift
• Good hand‑eye coordination, arm‑hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night
• Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms
• Must be able to speak and hear
• Subject to pre‑hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider
• Must pass pre‑employment screening and background check
• Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed
• Work is normally performed outside where exposure to extreme heat, cold, fumes, airborne particles, and gases is common
