Interstate Power Systems in Rockford, IL is seeking a Diesel Shop Foreman to lead our service team. You will oversee diesel repair and maintenance operations, drive quality workmanship, and enforce safety protocols while coordinating with technicians and the service office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with diesel engines and heavy‑duty trucks.
• Must have your own set of general tools.
• Strong knowledge of computers for diagnosis and repair order systems.
• Technical degree or certification a plus.
• Must be physically able to lift without restrictions.
• Diesel engine certification for overhaul and diagnostics is a must.
• CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform test drives to verify customer concerns are resolved.
• Perform Quality Inspections on completed truck/equipment.
• Open & close repair orders.
• Perform all types of repairs and DOT inspections as needed.
• Assist technician/mechanic(s) as needed with repairs.
• Mentor technician/mechanic(s) on the shop floor.
• Assist Service office to keep jobs on track and ready for next assignment.
• Update customers and seek approvals as needed.
• Update Uptime Pro with current information.
• Handle general shop duties and manage shop supplies.
• Delegate duties when there are no customer repairs.
• Learn Service Advisor role when short-staffed in office.
• Willing to work a rotational on‑call schedule.

Job Title: Diesel Shop Service Foreman

Location: Rockford, Illinois

Company: Interstate Power Systems

Shift Hours: 9:00am - 5:30pm Monday - Friday. Eventually evening shift.

Interstate Power System's is looking for a Diesel Shop Foreman Mechanic/Technician for our Rockford Illinois location. We are offering highly competitive wages!

Pay Range: $38.00 - $45.00/ Hour DOE

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Shop Foreman to lead our service team. The Diesel Shop Foreman will oversee all aspects of diesel repair and maintenance operations, ensuring efficient workflow, high-quality workmanship, and adherence to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diesel truck repair, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence.

Diesel Shop Foreman Duties:

• Perform test drives to verify customer concerns are resolved.
• Perform Quality Inspections on completed truck/equipment.
• Opening & closing repair orders
• Perform all types of repairs and DOT inspections as needed.
• Assist technician/mechanic(s) as needed with repairs, lending a hand or guidance as needed.
• Positively teach, train and mentor technician/mechanic(s)
• Assist Service office in making sure everyone is on a job and next assignment is ready.
• Updating customers and seeking approvals as needed
• Updating software programs such as Uptime Pro with updated information
• General Shop Duties, ordering and putting shop supplies away as needed.
• Delegating duties to technician/mechanic(s) when we have no customer repairs to complete.
• Learning Service Advisor role for times when shorthanded in office.
• Willing to work a rotational on call schedule.

Diesel Shop Foreman Requirements:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Experience working with diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks.
• Must have your own set of general tools.
• Strong knowledge of computers for diagnosis and repair order systems
• Technical degree or certification a plus
• Must be physically able to lift and work with no restrictions.
• Diesel engine certification-engine overhaul and diagnostics a must
• CDL preferred but not required.
