Job summary

AMECO is seeking an experienced Service Foreman to lead shop operations in Baton Rouge, LA. The role supervises equipment technicians, coordinates repairs, and ensures safety and quality standards are met while working with minimal supervision.

The position emphasizes training and developing the team, maintaining records, and direct scheduling from Rental and sales channels. A strong background in hydraulics and engines is required, with leadership experience in a similar setting.

Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years of experience in the construction equipment industry.
  • Hydraulics, electrical, engines, and power train certification required.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in a lead or supervisory role to include directing/training others, responsibility for workflow and process improvement.
  • Thorough technical training, provided by manufacturers, specific to certain equipment.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, schematics, drive trains, and gasoline engines.
  • Effective diagnostic knowledge in all areas for most types of construction equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences including management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Proficiency in PC-based business applications.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with customers concerning repair and service needs.
  • Direct scheduling of service work from the Rental Department, salesmen, and walk-in customers.
  • Maintain good member relations by applying HR, Safety, and Quality policies and practices.
  • Maintain records associated with equipment repair practices, preventive maintenance programs, or warranty information.
  • Perform major (non-routine) service repairs to customer and company-owned equipment.
  • Perform routine safety checks of shop equipment, tools, and work areas.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.
  • Plan, organize, and carry out assignments as directed.
  • Develop and cross-train staff to build a versatile team.
  • Address and resolve requests, complaints, and concerns promptly.
  • Maintain open communication with management, reporting any personnel or performance issues promptly.
  • Upholds AMECO’s productivity, quality, and safety standards.
  • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $35.00 To $39.00 Hourly

We are looking to hire an experienced and highly motivated Service Foreman to perform and lead our shop operations located in Baton Rouge, LA. As a working foreman’ this role will entail coordinating shop repair activities/workload, effectively organizing resources to achieve optimal efficiency/maximum output, while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity are met.

This position will perform mechanical functions relative to all types of construction equipment as well as will oversee, train, and direct the work of equipment technicians. This position will be required to operate with minimal supervision.

Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or
  • A combination of education and directly related experience equal to eight (8) years.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Eight (8) years of experience in the construction equipment industry.

  • Three (3) years’ experience in a lead or supervisory role to include directing/training others, responsibility for workflow and process improvement.

Physical Demands/Requirements:
  • Individuals may be required to frequently sit/drive stand, walk, lift/carry, reach, stoop, push/pull, handle/grasp/feel, talk, hear, engage in repetitive motions, and demonstrate eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Close vision is required for this job.
  • Employees frequently lift, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Generally favorable indoor shop workspace.
  • Occasionally may require exposure to production/manufacturing areas, which may result in being near moving mechanical parts or being exposed to fumes or airborne particles. These respective areas will require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or hard hats. The noise level in the production/manufacturing areas is usually loud.
  • Often required to work at a fast pace to meet deadlines, thus some stress may occur.
  • Environmental conditions may include occasional exposure to heat, temperature changes, noise, and humidity.
Travel/Other Requirements:
  • Availability as requested/required for after-hour emergency calls, necessary overtime as the workload dictates.
