Job summary

Kinsley Power Systems in East Granby, CT is seeking a Service Estimator to transform technician findings into accurate, timely, and profitable service quotations. You will evaluate field service write-ups, research parts, and develop quotes that support repairs and maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 2+ years related experience
• Microsoft Dynamics GP experience a plus
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
• Mechanical inclination; diesel and gaseous engine knowledge preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to establish rapport with customers and colleagues

Responsibilities

• Review technician write-ups to determine repair scope, required materials, and quotation requirements
• Manage service quote workload based on customer impact, equipment criticality, and business objectives
• Develop accurate Time & Material (T&M) and repair quotations per pricing guidelines and profitability targets
• Research parts compatibility, availability, pricing, and lead times to support repair recommendations
• Collaborate with technicians, operations, and customers to clarify repair requirements and provide quotation information
• Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors for specifications, pricing, and delivery commitments
• Identify replacement components and part numbers from equipment documentation
• Expedite critical parts research to minimize downtime and support repairs
• Maintain supplier relationships and seek alternative sourcing when appropriate
• Support key customer programs and critical repairs by meeting turnaround expectations
• Track quote activity and follow established processes for timely completion
• Provide exceptional service and communication to internal and external customers

Kinsley Power Systems is hiring for a Service Estimator. The Service Estimator is responsible for transforming technician findings into accurate, timely, and profitable service quotations. This position evaluates field service write-ups, and material requirements, researches parts and sub-contractor costs, and develops customer quotations that support successful equipment repair and maintenance.

The Service Estimator serves as a critical link between technicians, suppliers, and customers, ensuring repairs are quoted accurately, parts are sourced efficiently, and customer expectations are met. Success in this role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Reviews technician write-ups and service reports to determine repair scope, required materials, and quotation requirements.
• Manages assigned service quote workload, prioritizing requests based on customer impact, equipment criticality, and business objectives.
• Develops accurate Time & Material (T&M) and repair quotations in accordance with company pricing guidelines and profitability targets.
• Researches part compatibility, availability, pricing, and lead times to support repair recommendations and quote development.
• Works directly with technicians, operations personnel, and customers to clarify repair requirements and provide accurate quotation information.
• Collaborates with suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors to obtain technical specifications, pricing, and delivery commitments.
• Identifies replacement components and part numbers using equipment documentation, exploded diagrams, and manufacturer resources.
• Expedites critical parts research to minimize customer downtime and support emergency repairs.
• Maintains strong supplier relationships and actively seeks alternative sourcing solutions when appropriate.
• Supports key customer programs and critical repairs by meeting established response and turnaround expectations.
• Tracks quote activity and follows established processes to ensure timely completion.
• Provides exceptional service and communication to both internal and external customers.

Education and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent plus two+ years related experience; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Computer experience, with Microsoft Dynamics GP experience a plus
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Mechanical inclination; diesel and gaseous engine knowledge preferred
• Solid organizational skills and ability to follow through; uses time efficiently and is detailed-oriented
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish rapport with customers, colleagues, and management

The anticipated compensation range for this position is $32.00 to $42.00 hourly. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, certifications, location, and other business-related factors.
