Job summary

Wilmington Machinery is seeking a hands-on Service Engineer to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain injection molding and blow molding equipment at customer facilities. The role requires extensive travel, problem-solving under pressure, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years hands-on experience with injection and/or blow molding machinery.
• Proficient in electrical schematics, PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley), hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Strong ability to read mechanical drawings and assembly schematics.
• Willingness to travel 70%+ including internationally and on short notice.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Self-directed, organized, and able to work independently.
• Valid driver’s license and passport.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission molding machinery at customer sites.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and PLC-related issues in the field.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs per manufacturer guidelines.
• Train customers on operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Document service calls and repairs accurately and timely.
• Serve as liaison between customers and engineering teams.
• Provide feedback to drive equipment design improvements.
• Maintain tools, parts inventory, and travel readiness.

This role requires extensive travel, problem‑solving under pressure, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and commission new molding machinery at customer sites.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and PLC‑related issues on equipment in the field.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Train customers on machine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Document all service calls and repairs accurately and timely.
• Serve as a technical liaison between customers and engineering teams.
• Provide feedback on equipment performance and field failures to drive design improvements.
• Maintain tools, parts inventory, and travel readiness.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering – or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with injection and/or blow molding machinery.
• Proficient in electrical schematics, PLC troubleshooting (preferably Allen‑Bradley), hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Comfortable reading mechanical drawings and machine assembly schematics.
• Must be able to travel 70%+ including internationally, sometimes on short notice.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Must be self‑directed, organized, and able to work independently.
• Valid driver’s license and passport required.

Preferred

• Prior experience with Wilmington Machinery equipment a plus.
• Experience in plastic processing and mold setup is advantageous.
• Knowledge of servo systems, VFDs, and safety systems (e.g., ISO 13849‑1) is desirable.
