Job summary

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, repair, calibrate, and maintain high-precision Coordinate Measuring Machines at customer sites. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software issues and provide hands-on training to operators.

You’ll work independently, travel across the upstate NY region (up to 100%), and document service activities while delivering excellent customer service and support.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience with hand tools and basic electrical test equipment.
  • Microsoft Windows operating system knowledge required.
  • Mechanical, electrical, and software troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Prior CMM or industrial automation experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical training and guidance to customers on machine operation and maintenance.

  • Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction while managing service schedules.
  • Travel throughout the upstate NY territory (up to 100%) to support customer needs.
  • Lift and move equipment up to 75 pounds and work 40+ hours per week as required.

About The Role

As a FieldServiceEngineer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our customers’ success by maintaining and optimizing our high-precision Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and related equipment. You'll work independently, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electronic systems, and have the opportunity to develop your skills through exposure to innovative technologies.

What You'll Do
  • Install, repair, troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain CMM systems at customer locations.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software-related system issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical training and operational guidance to customers on machine operation and preventative maintenance.
  • Accurately document service activities and submit detailed service reports.
  • Partner cross-functionally with technical support and engineering teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Deliver high levels of customer satisfaction while managing service schedules effectively.
  • Travel throughout the upstate NY territory (up to 100%) to support customer needs.
  • Lift and move equipment weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted and work a minimum of 40 hours per week, including overtime as required to meet customer needs.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experienceworking withhand toolsandbasic electrical test equipmentis essential.
  • Microsoft operating systemknowledge is required.
  • Mechanical, electrical, and softwaretroubleshooting skills are highly desired.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 75 lbs and traveling regularly within the territory.
  • Excellentcommunication and customerserviceskills.
  • Prior experience with CMM machines or other industrial automation is a plus.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit for long periods of time with regularly bending and kneeling
  • Manual dexterity required for keyboard use, operating office equipment, grasping objects
  • Regularly move around the customers’ worksites
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and adjust focus
  • Frequently communicates with other employees and customers
Work Environment
  • Primarily visits customers’ worksites, with occasional visits to the office
  • Equipment is kept clean, orderly, properly inspected for accurate functionality
  • Noise levels are considered low to moderate
  • If required, PPE will be provided
  • Requires travel to customers’ worksites up to 100%
