Overview
An established, privately owned electrical service company serving the Rolla, MO area is seeking a skilled Service Electrician to handle residential and commercial installation, maintenance, and repair work. This role is central to maintaining the company's reputation for high customer satisfaction, on-time performance, and safe, code-compliant work.
What you'll do
- Install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical wiring, systems, fixtures, panels, outlets, lighting, and equipment for residential and commercial service calls, remodels, and new construction
- Install conduits, pipes, raceways, and cable trays, ensuring compliance with NEC and local code amendments
- Install, connect, and test circuit breakers, panels, switches, outlets, and lighting controls
- Perform diagnostics and testing using meters and appropriate tools to verify safe, proper installation
- Inspect existing electrical systems to identify needed repairs or upgrades
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding job details, ETAs, and progress updates
- Use FieldEdge mobile app to update job status in real time (driving, arrived, started, in progress, completed)
- Document all jobs in FieldEdge with detailed notes, photos, parts used, and customer communications
- Perform quality control on all completed work to ensure it meets code and company standards
- Maintain a clean, organized job site and thoroughly clean up upon job completion
- Keep service vehicle clean, organized, and well-stocked; report vehicle or equipment issues promptly
- Proactively plan and order materials from suppliers to minimize extra trips and downtime
- Coordinate material pickups/deliveries and maintain accurate truck inventory
- Follow all safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and electrical codes; use proper PPE and report hazards immediately
- Assist with basic quotes or estimates for service work when requested
- Issue invoices via FieldEdge and collect payments on site
- Coordinate with dispatch/CSR team and Operations Manager on scheduling and job priorities
- Perform other related duties as assigned across service and project work
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a formal electrical apprenticeship program
- Valid Journeyman Electrician license (or higher), current and in good standing
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a licensed electrician in residential and/or commercial service, remodeling, and new construction
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and installation practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, test meters, diagnostic equipment, and conduit bending tools
- Strong proficiency with FieldEdge or similar service management software for job status updates and documentation
- Excellent customer communication and service skills
- Strong attention to detail for quality control, documentation, and code compliance
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to see color to discern color-coded wiring
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and climb ladders or scaffolding for prolonged periods
- Physical capability to pull wires/cables through conduits and perform demanding tasks
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to work in attics, crawlspaces, outdoors, and construction sites in varying weather conditions
Preferred qualifications
- Higher license level, or Master preferred
- Experience using service management or dispatching software, with FieldEdge experience highly preferred
