Service Desk Assistant Supervisor Job Description
A Service Desk Assistant Supervisor’s primary role is to provide service to customers for inquiries, comments, complaints and merchandise returns/exchanges when the Supervisor is not present. A Service Desk Assistant Supervisor’s main duties include but are not limited to, supervising all cashiers, all registers, all guest relations and operating the automated phone system in order to direct calls to the correct location.
Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Works under immediate supervision of the Service Desk Supervisor, grocery assistant manager and manager. Primary job functions may require exercising independent judgment. Abides by pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. The successful candidate will play a fundamental role in achieving our customer satisfaction and revenue growth objectives.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for preparing the store for opening in the morning and closing in the evening.
- Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Greet customers when entering or leaving the facility and provide answers to customer inquiries.
- Engages and maintains a professional working relationship with vendors.
- Directly supervises cashiers in the grocery department. Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to, following all organizational policies and procedures, training employees, planning, scheduling, assigning and directing tasks, disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. - Verify Tills for each cashier to begin shift.
- Ability to handle cash, credit or check transactions, issue change and receipts with customers.
- Seek approval from management when a paper check will not electronically process.
- Monitors checkout stations to reduce customer delays.
- Seeks additional workers to open registers to help alleviate customer delays when possible.
- Maintains cigarette and tobacco inventory and makes orders accordingly.
- Processes customer merchandise returns/exchanges in accordance with company policy.
- Prepares signs for external sign, based on Grocery Manager’s request.
- Places sales circulars out for customers.
- Charges motorized shopping carts nightly and unplugs each morning.
- Assists Cashiers with any register or systematic issues.
- Maintains the Service Desk change drawer throughout the shift.
- Proficiently operates the RDS system
- Scans goods, redeems coupons and collects payments for purchases.
- Ensures pricing is correct.
- Confirms each cashier has closed their register at the end of the scheduled shift.
- Acknowledges customer questions, concerns or complaints and forwards to the manager on duty for resolution if unable to address.
- Confirms items are being bagged carefully.
- Confirms cashiers maintain a clean and tidy checkout area.
- Checks customers for proper identification for Alcohol and Tobacco purchases.
- Schedules employee classes to obtain their Louisiana Responsible Vendor Server Permit Certification from the ATC.
- Request assistance to have shopping carts removed from parking lot at intervals throughout the day and remove any residual trash from shopping carts.
- Report mechanical problems with any equipment through the use of Work Order Forms.
