Job summary

Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Behavioral Health (MPNN BH) is seeking a dedicated professional to implement early intervention services for infants and toddlers within the CSB catchment area. You will identify children in need, help implement individualized family service plans, and advocate for families to access therapies and resources.

Responsibilities include coordinating services, ensuring timelines required by Part C are met, and collaborating with staff, families, and service providers.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Under general supervision, employee is responsible for implementing early intervention services in the MPNN CSB catchment area for infants and toddlers with, or at-risk for, developmental delays. Employee is responsible for identifying infants and toddlers in need of intervention services by an in person multidisciplinary assessment and helping to implement individualized family service plans. Employee is also responsible for providing support and advocacy to families and care givers; ensuring that families are connected with a variety of needed therapies, services and resources; and coordinating those services. Employee must ensure that all timelines and data points required by Part C early intervention are met. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff, children, families, public, and service providers. Reports to the Early Intervention Coordinator.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conducts wide range of developmental screenings using a variety of instruments; conducts in-take and makes recommendations for assessment; facilitates developmental assessments of referred children; coordinates development of Individualized Family Service Plan (Plan of Care).
  • Coordinates family assessment according to Part C requirements (assists family in identifying concerns, priorities, resources).
  • Coordinates services and assists families with securing needed services; observes and records developmental progress of children; processes all relevant information, including medical, social, psychological, etc.; makes referrals; schedules appointments for families; maintains updated files according to Part C and outpatient rehabilitation guidelines.
  • Consults with other staff, supervisors, therapy providers, and consultants on a routine basis regarding intervention strategies, provision of services, and related issues.
  • Coordinates services with children's medical providers.
  • Facilitates transition services for children and families to other services when they will no longer be eligible for Early Intervention.
  • Attends workshops, training, and conferences pertaining to early intervention.
  • Participates in formulating program goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other related work as required.
  • Assists in training of new staff in area of expertise.

Job Requirements
  • Must pass all required Background Checks.
  • Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License with reliable transportation and driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier.
  • Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment, and yearly thereafter as required by licensing authority.
Education and Experience

Employee must meet highest entry-level standard in one of the disciplines designated in Part C of IDEA; Have a bachelors in early childhood education or related field and or 1 to 2 years' experience in the provision of early childhood and/or family services.
