Job Summary

The Service Clerk reports to the Store Manager/Senior Assistant Manager and is responsible for maintaining carts, assisting customers with purchases, checking prices, returning merchandise, and maintaining parking lot and store cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Collect and organize shopping carts within the store and retrieve them from the parking lot and surrounding areas.
• Assist customers with loading merchandise into shopping carts and loading their vehicles.
• Check retail prices on the shelf for check‑stand personnel.
• Pull merchandise from the check stand (“go backs”) and return it to the proper shelf. Walk aisles and return misplaced items to their proper location, and face merchandise on aisles as needed.
• Monitor the cleanliness of the store entrance: sweep the front area inside and outside, pick up and empty trash regularly, mop outside walkways, and clean entrance/exit doors daily.
• Monitor overall store cleanliness: sweep, mop, clean, and restock restrooms as needed.

Qualifications

• Read and write English, and interact effectively with the general public and coworkers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, and short correspondence.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small‑group settings to customers, clients, and other employees.
• Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Preferred Skills

• Basic PC and Outlook skills.
• Retail Management Certificate.
