Job summary

Smart & Final, part of the Chedraui USA family, is hiring a Service Clerk at 723 Fairfield. This role supports store operations, assists customers, and helps keep carts and aisles tidy.

Starting rate $16.90 per hour; you will work with the store team at Fairfield, CA, handling prices, stocking shelves, assisting customers to their cars, and maintaining cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Read and write English and interact with customers and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Present information clearly to customers and employees.
• Apply common sense to follow detailed but uninvolved instructions.
• Regularly lift and move up to 25 lb, frequently up to 45 lb, occasionally up to 60 lb.

Responsibilities

• Collect and organize shopping carts within the store and nearby parking areas.
• Assist customers with loading merchandise into carts and vehicles.
• Check retail prices on shelves for checkout staff.
• Return mispriced items to shelves and restore proper shelf order.
• Maintain cleanliness at store entrance and restrooms; restock as needed.
• Monitor store cleanliness throughout the day.

The Opportunity

The Service Clerk reports to the Store Manager/Senior Assistant Manager and is responsible for maintaining carts, assisting customers with purchases and assistance to their cars as requested, checking prices on products, returning merchandise to store shelves, parking lot and store maintenance.

Specific Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Collect and organize shopping carts within the store and retrieve carts from the parking lot and surrounding areas.
• Assist customers with the loading of merchandise into shopping carts. Provide customers with assistance to and loading of their vehicles.
• Check retail prices on shelf for check stand personnel.
• Pull merchandise from check stand (“go backs”) and return it to the proper shelf. Walk aisles and return any misplaced items to their proper location. Face merchandise on aisles as needed.
• Monitor cleanliness of store entrance: sweep front area inside and outside and pick up and empty trash regularly throughout the day, mop outside walkways and clean entrance/exit doors daily.
• Monitor cleanliness of store throughout the day: sweep, mop, and clean and restock restrooms as needed.
