Job description

The Service Clerk is the key to our success!

Stores rely on the Service Clerk to provide excellent customer service, maintain fresh and well-stocked shelves, and create a positive shopping experience for customers.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Collect and organize shopping carts within the store and retrieve carts from the parking lot and surrounding areas.
• Assist customers with loading merchandise into shopping carts and help load their vehicles.
• Check retail prices on shelves for check stand personnel.
• Return merchandise from check stands (“go backs”) to proper shelves, walk aisles to correct misplaced items, and face merchandise as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness at the store entrance: sweep, pick up trash, mop outside walkways, and clean entrance/exit doors daily.
• Ensure store cleanliness throughout the day: sweep, mop, clean, and restock restrooms as needed.

RESTRICTIONS: Service Clerks may NOT perform the following duties:

• Receiving functions, including processing orders through front or back DEX/NEX or DSD systems.
• Operate power equipment (may be certified to operate a bailer if age 18 or older).
• Run a department, stock shelves (except for check stand “go backs”), or perform clean-up duties unless assisting a customer or during night shifts.

What You'll Bring:

• Ability to read and write English, interact with the public and co-workers.
• Ability to understand simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, and memos.
• Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group interactions.
• Ability to carry out detailed, simple instructions.
• Physical ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly, 45 pounds frequently, and 60 pounds occasionally.

Extra Bonus Skills:

• Basic PC and Outlook skills.
• Retail Management Certification.
