Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Service Center Operator C (SCOC) in the United States to manage daily staging, packing, and picking of materials for shipments, using appropriate equipment and SAP for orders. An enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program is part of onboarding.

The role offers an hourly wage of $20.55–$22.71 with eligible benefits such as medical, dental, vision insurance, 401K, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, disability coverage, and wellness programs.

Qualifications

• Requirements: pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Minimum 1 year of similar job experience preferred.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer.
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility.
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding and training.

Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders.
• Packaging of material to customer requirements.
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed.
• Completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer.
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation.
• All other duties as assigned or as changes may occur.
