Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Service Center Operator A (SCOA) to support day-to-day staging, packing, and picking of material for shipments. Duties include operating a forklift, handling paperwork, and using SAP to confirm orders in a fast-paced, on-site facility in the United States.

The role supports an apprenticeship onboarding path and requires basic math and computer skills, with a preference for 2 years of related experience and a strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Pass skills-based assessment on reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred.
• Basic math skills required.
• Basic computer skills or comfort using a computer.
• Able to pass vision, hearing, and mobility requirements.
• Enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding and training.

Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders.
• Packaging material to customer requirements.
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material.
• Completing paperwork and SAP work orders for shipping/receiving.
• Maintaining maximum productivity for finished goods creation.
• Other duties as assigned or as needed.
