Job description

We are seeking experienced Food & Beverage professionals for the position of Server at Rail Stop Restaurant & Bar. The role involves preparing for service, serving guests professionally with a friendly attitude, providing menu descriptions, and anticipating guest needs.

Experience: Must have at least two (2) or more years of experience in a Full-Service, Upscale Restaurant, with a background in Food & Beverage. TIPS Certification is preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Greet guests and create a memorable first impression.
  • Provide detailed menu descriptions and take accurate orders.
  • Check in with guests throughout their meal about their experience.
  • Have full knowledge of wines, beers, and cocktails, and make recommendations.
  • Handle cash transactions properly, including payments and settling charges.
  • Promote daily specials and unique menu items.
  • Complete opening and closing duties, including cleaning checklists.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for 8 hours.
  • Walk/stand approximately 90% of shift.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Upsell menu items effectively.
  • Thorough knowledge of food & beverage service.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective communication in English; second language is a plus.
  • Familiarity with POS systems.
  • Adhere to safety standards.

Working Environment:

  • Primarily in the restaurant and service areas, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Exposure to sun, heat, cold, and weather changes.
