Join our team as our new Server for a Japanese style Bar & Lounge located in The Watermark Hotel in Tysons Corner, VA. The role is ideal for individuals with experience in upscale cocktail bars, boutique hotel restaurants, or similar settings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets guests, takes food and beverage orders, and employs suggestive‑up‑selling techniques.
- Serves alcoholic, non‑alcoholic beverages and meals to guests courteously and efficiently according to restaurant specifications.
- Inputs orders accurately.
- Collects and processes payments.
- Assists with maintenance of the restaurant area and supplies.
- Maintains knowledge of the menu and answers questions regarding ingredients and allergens.
- Performs job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritizes and organizes tasks.
- Maintains complete knowledge of and complies with all restaurant policies and service standards.
- Anticipates guests’ needs, responds promptly and acknowledges all guests, regardless of busyness or time of day.
- Is familiar with all Hotel services, features, and local attractions to respond to inquiries accurately.
- Completes all side work before the doors open.
- Assists with escorting guests to tables and seating them when necessary.
- Notifies a manager whenever a guest is unhappy or upset.
- Knows table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, menu, price range, and dress code.
- Inspects menus and wine lists for cleanliness; ensures appropriate quantities are available and updates as needed.
- Touches tables and builds repeat clientele.
- Performs other duties and tasks deemed necessary by management.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- Internal: Talent, restaurant staff, bar staff, culinary, stewardship, storeroom/purchasing, accounting, and HR.
- External: Hotel guests and visitors, equipment repair personnel, and liquor suppliers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Legible written communication.
- Basic arithmetic skills.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role serving the public.
- Performs job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritizes and organizes.
- Follows directions thoroughly.
- Calm, clear thinker with good judgment.
- Works cohesively as part of a team.

- Handles confidential guest information and restaurant data with integrity.

CERTIFICATES & PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- State of Virginia Food Handler and Responsible Vendor certificates are required.
- Employee is responsible for obtaining and renewing certificates.
- Physical: able to transport up to 20 pounds, endure continuous standing for up to 4 hours, walk, stoop, lift, reach, and use hands for routine tasks.
- May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat, moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather, and a noisy environment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Interprets safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Speaks effectively before company employees.

COMPENSATION
Hourly rate: $12.41 – $12.41 an hour. Pay is determined by qualifications, experience, skills, education, and certifications. Base pay is one component of the total compensation package, which may include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short‑term and long‑term disability coverage, basic life insurance, bonus plans, and more.
