Position Summary

The Server will provide ultimate hospitality for guests in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

This role will pay an hourly wage of $15.00 plus tips.

About the Venue

The Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia, PA, boasts a rich history that spans over a century. After a comprehensive $56 million renovation, The Met Philadelphia reopened on December 3, 2018, with a performance by Bob Dylan. The renovation restored the building's historic features while updating it with modern amenities. Today, The Met operates as a premier concert venue, hosting a wide range of performances from classical music and opera to rock concerts and comedy shows. The venue's revival has been celebrated as a significant achievement in historic preservation and adaptive reuse. The Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia stands as a testament to the city's rich cultural heritage and its ongoing commitment to preserving historic landmarks for future generations.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge of the menu and any special items being offered.
  • Provide quick, attentive, friendly, and professional service to banquet guests, communicating clearly with all customers.
  • Ensure that food items are served at proper temperature and immediately upon availability from the kitchen, as ordered.
  • Ensure neat presentation of all ordered items, with no spill-over.
  • Pre-bus tables and bus tables when necessary during peak periods.
  • Maintain availability to work during many peak periods.
  • Stock beverage station(s) when necessary (ice, juices, glassware, sugar packets, etc.).
  • Maintain high responsiveness to customer desires and requests.
  • Maintain a professional and clean appearance.
  • Communicate with wait staff, bus persons, bartenders, supervisors, and kitchen staff to improve communication and coordination, ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Build and maintain knowledge regarding bar offerings to accurately answer patron questions.
  • Use POS to complete accurate guest orders and collect payment.
Qualifications
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment preferred.
  • Must have a High School Diploma, G.E.D., or related Food Service Job Experience.
  • Must acquire and maintain a Food Handlers Card, Alcohol Awareness Certification, and other required compliance trainings.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with employees, co-workers, management, and guests, fostering a positive and cooperative work environment.
