Job summary

Kids for the Future is hiring a Restaurant Server in a part-time capacity in New York. The role focuses on welcoming guests, guiding menu selections, and delivering warm, efficient service with attention to presentation and guest satisfaction.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, prior serving experience is preferred, and the ability to work nights and weekends in a fast-paced dining environment. Knowledge of wine, beer, and cocktails is a plus, 18+ applicants only.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests with warmth, enthusiasm, and professionalism, creating a welcoming and memorable dining environment from the first interaction.
  • Present menus, explain specials, and provide thoughtful guidance on food and beverage selections based on guest preferences and dietary needs.
  • Accurately enter orders into the POS system, coordinate with kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely and precise delivery.
  • Serve food and beverages with care and attention to presentation, checking in with guests regularly to anticipate additional needs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned stations, dining areas, and side work duties throughout the shift.
  • Process guest payments, handle cash and credit transactions accurately, and thank guests with genuine appreciation.
  • Manage multiple tables and priorities gracefully in a fast-paced environment, ensuring guest satisfaction at every stage of service.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors to support a seamless and collaborative dining experience.
  • Perform any and all other duties as requested by management in support of restaurant and hotel operations.

Description

Job Purpose:

The Restaurant Server is a key part of our food & beverage storytelling— bringing our menus to life and shaping every guest interaction into a thoughtful, tailored dining experience. This role goes beyond delivering plates; it’s about fostering connection, anticipating needs, and guiding guests through a meal that reflects the essence of our culinary philosophy. With polish, presence, and a service-first mindset, the Server delivers warm, efficient, and gracious hospitality in a way that keeps guests returning again and again .

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior serving experience in a full-service restaurant preferred.
  • Knowledge of wine, beer, and cocktail service is a plus.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work at a productive pace without sacrificing quality.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and heavy trays and items when needed.
