Contract term: 12 months
Position Summary
The Server Hardware & Systems Integration Technician will install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain server-class hardware and proprietary test-bench systems. These systems combine compute, networking, power, sensor, electronic, and custom wiring components in configurations similar to enterprise servers and data-center equipment.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building or maintaining servers, installing equipment in data-center racks, managing power and network cabling, replacing hardware components, or troubleshooting proprietary equipment built on server-like architecture.
This position will perform advanced hardware diagnostics, support engineering changes, maintain system configurations, and complete end-of-line commissioning activities for the bench fleet. The technician will work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating with engineering, IT, operations, vendors, and other internal and external partners.
What You’ll Do
Server Hardware Deployment and Integration
- Assemble, install, configure, and commission server-class hardware and proprietary bench systems.
- Install equipment in racks using appropriate rails, mounting hardware, power connections, and cable-management practices.
- Install, replace, and upgrade hardware components such as processors, memory, storage devices, network adapters, power supplies, peripheral devices, and other system components.
- Perform hardware and software upgrades in accordance with established technical requirements and engineering change instructions.
- Connect and validate network, power, sensor, compute, and peripheral components.
- Verify that completed systems meet configuration, connectivity, performance, and commissioning requirements before being placed into service.
- Support the deployment and maintenance of equipment across multiple sites and technical environments.
Diagnostics and Troubleshooting
- Diagnose complex hardware, electronic, assembly, network, and system-configuration issues.
- Perform structured triage to isolate failures involving compute hardware, power, cabling, networking, sensors, peripherals, or software configuration.
- Identify failed or degraded components and complete appropriate repair, replacement, or escalation activities.
- Validate network connectivity, signal paths, system configurations, scheduling mechanisms, and communication between connected components.
- Use available diagnostic software, system logs, test equipment, and troubleshooting procedures to identify root causes.
- Support the recovery and return to service of unavailable or degraded bench systems.
- Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommended corrective actions to engineering and operational teams.
System Configuration and Engineering Support
- Complete engineering changes, hardware modifications, software updates, and configuration changes using approved processes.
- Follow technical documentation, including work instructions, engineering papers, schematics, two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawings, cut sheets, wiring diagrams, and sample assemblies.
- Confirm that hardware, firmware, software, network, and system configurations match approved specifications.
- Support end-of-line commissioning and readiness validation for newly built or modified systems.
- Work with cross-functional teams responsible for system architecture, compute platforms, sensors, networking, and control systems.
- Perform assigned project tasks independently or as part of a small technical team.
Cabling and Electrical Assembly
- Install, route, label, secure, and maintain power, network, signal, and peripheral cabling.
- Apply data-center-quality wire-management practices to maintain organized and serviceable systems.
- Assemble, modify, install, and repair wiring systems and custom harnesses using schematics, hand tools, and approved assembly and rework techniques.
- Inspect cables, connectors, harnesses, and terminations for physical damage, improper installation, or connectivity issues.
- Perform basic electrical and signal-path validation when troubleshooting integrated systems.
Documentation and Operational Support
- Accurately document system configurations, hardware changes, diagnostic findings, triage activities, repairs, and overall bench health.
- Maintain configuration-management records using designated systems and automated tools.
- Create or improve technical procedures and troubleshooting documentation when needed.
- Track project parts, replacement components, tools, and operating supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe technical workspace.
- Follow established safety, quality, security, and change-management procedures.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
