Job summary

Washtenaw Intermediate School District is seeking a part-time Server for the Middle School, 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. The role involves final food preparation, serving meals, customer service, and maintaining sanitation in line with policies.

You will work with the Food Service Director and Lead Cook to ensure safe, timely service and a professional dining environment for students and staff. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED preferred; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; and

Responsibilities

• Provide quality customer service with attention to detail.
• May operate a cash register/point of sale during serving periods.
• Assist with preparation and service of food and beverage items following standards for presentation, sanitation, and safety.
• Serve meals using correct portions.
• Maintain a clean work area and equipment.
• Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
• Promote a clean, safe environment.
• Attend in-service and safety meetings as required.
• Work well with coworkers, administrators, and managers.
• Assist with organization of storerooms and refrigeration labeling/rotation.
• Report daily in a clean uniform with professional appearance.
• Must check emails daily and communicate as needed.

Job Title: Server

Reports To: Food Service Director

Salary: $14.02/hour ($13.77 until the 90-day probationary period is complete)

Summary:

Responsible for the final preparation of all food items served in the food service area in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Director of Food Service and Lead Cook to ensure that quality service is provided at all times. Contribute to the team efforts and show good customer interactions, and professionalism for customers, fellow employees, and the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide quality customer service to customers by providing one-on-one attention to the detail.
• May need to operate a cash register/point of sale device during serving periods as needed.
• Participate in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in adherence to company food standards for presentation, sanitation, and safety.
• Serve meals using correct portioning.
• Clean work area and equipment used in food preparation and service.
• Must follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
• Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment.
• Attend in-service and/or safety meetings as required.
• Work effectively and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, customers, administrators, and Managers.
• Assist with the organization of storerooms, and refrigerators/freezers. Follow requirements for proper labeling, dating, and rotation of product.
• Report daily to work in a clean uniform, maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
• Must have the ability to check emails daily, and respond/communicate as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, use hands, reach with arms, and taste/smell. The employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to bend, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee frequently has hands in hot soapy water and/or cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
