Job summary

Waterford Communities Assisted Living and Memory Care is looking for a Server to support the dietary team in providing elder dining services. This role reports to the Dietary Director and involves taking orders, serving meals, and maintaining a clean, safe dining area.

Ideal applicants are 15 years or older, with preferred (not required) prior food service experience and possible Serve Safe/Level II Food Handler certification as per policy. Uniforms and professionalism are expected.

Qualifications

• Serve Safe/Clean or Level II Food Handler Permit preferred or required per facility policy.

Responsibilities

• Take elder meal orders.
• Serve meals in a courteous and timely manner.
• Pour and serve beverages.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen items used during shifts.
• Buss tables after each meal.
• Keep the serving counter clean and organized at all times.
• Follow all sanitation, infection control, and safety procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dietary Director.

JOB TITLE

Server

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports directly to the Dietary Director.

POSITION FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for taking elder meal orders.

• Responsible for serving meals in a courteous and timely manner.

• Responsible for pouring and serving beverages.

• Responsible for washing dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen items used during assigned shifts.

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Responsible for bussing tables after each meal

• Responsible for keeping the serving counter clean and organized at all times.

• Must follow all sanitation, infection control, and safety procedures.

• Performs additional duties as assigned by the Dietary Director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical stamina is required for bending, lifting, walking, and standing for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds safely.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed indoors in well-lighted and ventilated surroundings. This position requires standing and walking for the majority of the shift, with intermittent sitting. Employees may be exposed to:

• Minor cuts and burns from kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals

• Sprains or strains from lifting food items or equipment

• Wet or slippery floors

Employees must be knowledgeable of and follow all safety procedures to prevent injury to themselves and others. Employees must also follow all infection control procedures and universal precautions.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Serve Safe/Clean or Level II Food Handler Permit preferred or required per facility policy.

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS

Uniforms must comply with The Waterford's dress code and uniform policies.

Employees are expected to follow all requirements outlined in the Employee Handbook and perform duties as assigned by the Dietary Director.
