Job summary

Project Renewal is seeking a Kitchen Server/Food Handler to support daily meal service in our shelters across the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan. This role requires a NYC Food Handler’s Certificate and involves preparing and serving meals to residents with dietary needs, while maintaining safety and cleanliness.

Shifts are flexible, typically 3 hours, with options to work 1-3 shifts daily for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.

Qualifications

• Requires NYC Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Must be able to work one weekend day as part of shift.

Responsibilities

• Serve three meals daily for 50-200 residents with dietary restrictions.
• Shifts are 3 hours each with 1-3 shifts daily for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.
• Maintain hot foods hot and cold foods cold.
• Supervise the serving of meals.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely.
• Assist in stock storage and management according to procedures.
• Ensure sanitation of surfaces and containers.
• Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of kitchen and food areas.

Salary: $20.079/hour

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Serving three meals daily for 50-200 residents as well as snacks, with particular attention to the needs of residents with dietary restrictions
• Shifts are 3 hours each and there is flexibility in working 1-3 shifts daily for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner
• Keeping hot food hot and cold food cold. No exceptions.
• Responsible for supervising the serving of meals
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly
• Assist in the storage, control, and management of all stock, according to regulations and administrative procedures
• Ensure the proper sanitation and cleanliness of surfaces and storage containers
• Support with all aspects of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of the kitchen, equipment, and other food service areas
