Job summary

edgefi, a Vancouver, WA-based MSP, seeks a Server Administrator to own Windows Server and Active Directory across client environments, manage patching, DNS/DHCP, and server migrations toward Azure and AWS. This is a full-time, on-site role in the Vancouver/Portland metro area, collaborating with network and systems teams to deliver reliable infrastructure.

You will bring 5+ years in an MSP or similar setting, strong Microsoft 365 and Entra ID skills, and PowerShell scripting ability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in an MSP or comparable client-facing IT environment.
• Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration.
• Strong Active Directory fundamentals: GPOs, DNS, LDAP, DHCP, and beyond.
• Solid networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, firewall concepts.
• Scripting ability in PowerShell (required), Python or Bash is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own escalated incidents from Tier 1 and Tier 2, diagnose and resolve issues.
• Administer and troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams environments.
• Plan and execute server migrations to Azure and AWS, lift-and-shift, and modernization projects.
• Manage and own Active Directory: GPOs, DNS, LDAP, DHCP, OU structure, and replication health.
• Partner with network and systems teams on DNS, DHCP scopes, and VLANs.
• Manage backup and disaster recovery solutions for servers.
• Own ongoing server maintenance, patching, and health across client environments.
• Deploy new infrastructure from design through cutover.
• Lead server upgrade projects.
• Work directly with clients to scope and deliver projects from inception to completion.
• Participate in security reviews, patch management, and hardening initiatives.
• Document server configurations and build runbooks.
• Identify inefficiencies and drive automation with PowerShell or Python.
• Mentor junior team members and foster continuous improvement.

THE ROLE

As our Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll serve as the escalation point for our technical team and a trusted advisor to our clients. You’ll own complex problems across Microsoft 365, Active Directory, networking, and security, and help us raise the bar across the board. You’ll own Windows Server and Active Directory across our client environments, from patching and health to GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and the server‑side migrations that move clients toward Azure and AWS. You’ll partner closely with our network admin and systems engineering team wherever server and network responsibilities meet.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Work directly with clients to scope and deliver projects from inception to completion
• Participate in security reviews, patch management, and hardening initiatives
• Document server configurations, build runbooks, and help standardize how we operate
• Identify inefficiencies and drive automation, PowerShell, Python, or whatever gets it done
• Mentor junior team members and help build a culture of continuous improvement

WHAT YOU BRING

• 5+ years in an MSP or comparable client-facing IT environment

• Comfortable working with RMM tools, PSA/ITSM platforms, and backup solutions
• Clear communicator who can translate technical complexity for any audience

You're local to the Vancouver/Portland metro. This is a full-time, in-person position.
