Job summary

EDC Corporation - AIMS Parking in Syracuse, NY is seeking a System Administrator for in-person, full-time work. You will manage AWS-based infrastructure, implement hardening, and support PCI DSS and SOC 2 compliance while collaborating with Implementations, Support, and Development teams.

The role emphasizes security, automation, and disaster recovery planning, with planned OS/database/framework updates and server migrations outside standard hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• 2 years of experience as a Systems Administrator.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services.

Responsibilities

• Build out new virtual networks, firewalls, and servers following configuration best practices and hardening guides.
• Perform planned software updates for OS, databases, and frameworks outside ETZ business hours.
• Execute planned server sizing changes during and outside business hours as needed.
• Maintain software infrastructure components to ensure they are secure, updated, and properly patched.
• Develop, document, test, and implement migration plans for older servers to newer versions.
• Maintain policies and procedures related to configuration best practices and system hardening guidelines.
• Develop and maintain scripts to automate system administration tasks.
• Develop and maintain scripts to verify correct server configurations.
• Maintain and test disaster recovery (DR) plans.
• Conduct security scans on servers and remediate vulnerabilities as necessary.
• Ensure server configuration is compliant with the latest PCI DSS standards.
• Monitor system and security logs for anomalies and potential threats.
• Perform duties related to SOC 2 Type 2 audits, including updating documentation and gathering evidence for compliance.
• Collaborate with Implementations Team to ensure smooth deployment of customer environments and server configurations.
• Work with Support Team to diagnose and resolve infrastructure-related technical issues affecting customers and internal users.
• Partner with Development Team to optimize server performance, enhance security, and facilitate application deployments.

• Build out new virtual networks, firewalls, and servers following EDC Corporation’s configuration best practices and hardening guides.

• Perform planned software updates for OS (Windows Server, Amazon Linux), databases (MSSQL Server, MongoDB), and frameworks (PHP, .NET Core, .NET Framework) outside of Eastern Time Zone business hours.

• Execute planned server sizing changes during and outside of business hours as needed.

• Maintain software infrastructure components (e.g., OpenSSH, Shibboleth SP) to ensure they are secure, updated, and properly patched.

• Develop, document, test, and implement migration plans for older servers to newer supported software versions (e.g., in-place upgrades or rebuilds).

• Maintain policies and procedures related to configuration best practices and system hardening guidelines.

• Develop and maintain scripts to automate system administration tasks.

• Develop and maintain scripts to verify correct server configurations.

• Maintain and test disaster recovery (DR) plans.

• Conduct security scans on servers and remediate vulnerabilities as necessary.

• Ensure server configuration is compliant with the latest PCI DSS standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related degree
• 2 years of experience as a Systems Administrator.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services

Required Skills

• Proficiency in PowerShell and Bash scripting.
• Strong knowledge of firewalls and CIDR notation.
• Experience converting SSL certificates into different formats and installing them in IIS and Nginx.
• Solid understanding of DNS.
