Job summary

Highgate Senior Living in Vancouver, WA is seeking a dedicated Server to assist our culinary team in providing nutritious meals for residents in assisted living and memory care. This role offers the opportunity to engage with seniors and ensure meal quality and presentation.

Ideal candidates will have basic culinary skills and a passion for customer service. A flexible work schedule is available, with shifts on Friday to Sunday.

Work Schedule

This position is from 4-8 pm, Friday – Sunday. There are no tips or commissions.

Compensation

$16.50/hour (range $16.50 to $21.00 per hour).

Position: Server

We are looking for the right Server to assist our culinary team with the presentation of nutritious and delicious meals for our residents in assisted living and memory care communities in the western US. This role may be full‑time or part‑time and involves working directly with staff and residents to deliver beautifully presented, fresh, and temperature‑appropriate meals. Because we serve vulnerable adults, this position is not eligible for tips, gifts, or gratuities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with meal presentation and service to residents.
  • Deliver meals directly to residents and maintain proper temperature and hygiene.
  • Engage with residents, providing companionship and support.
  • Follow safety protocols and kitchen equipment operation guidelines.
  • Work independently with minimal oversight while maintaining a positive attitude.
Skills Needed
  • Confidence to engage with seniors individually and in small groups.
  • Basic culinary skills and comfort in the kitchen.
  • Safety awareness in work habits.
  • Ability to operate various kitchen equipment.
  • Calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Comfort interacting with residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Take direction and coaching from others.
  • Team player focused on customer service.
  • Adapt/respond quickly to residents’ needs and preferences.
  • Willingness to learn about dementia and support residents living with dementia.
Relatable Experience
  • Experience in a culinary environment.
  • Roles involving excellent customer service.
  • Work with seniors or other vulnerable populations.
  • Service‑based positions in healthcare, hospitality, or hotels.
  • Volunteer work or other work with vulnerable groups.
  • Completion of task lists.
Qualifications
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Experience in a kitchen setting.
  • Current negative TB test.
  • Willingness to learn how to work in a healthcare/assisted living environment.
  • Ability to pass a criminal record/background check.
  • Good time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work well independently with little oversight.
  • Vaccination against COVID‑19 preferred.
