Job summary

Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, SD is hiring a Server to interact with customers, set up and maintain a clean serving area, prepare and serve food items, and restock food areas.

You will help with cash transactions using a computerized register and support catered events; you must be able to stand for long periods and work nights, weekends, and holidays. This role emphasizes food safety, teamwork, and friendly service in a hospital cafeteria.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• Two years serving experience and/or training preferred.
• Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame.

Responsibilities

• Provides outstanding customer service and effectively communicates with patrons and co-workers.
• Maintains quality control standards. Operates equipment such as beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, refrigerators and freezers.
• Follows established systems for taking, placing, and delivering orders.
• Accounts for credit card and cash transactions.
• Serves catered parties.
• Follows standards for greeting, cocktail service, food delivery and general service techniques.
• Answers questions regarding menu items and suggests options.
• Practices tray service for all food and beverage service.
• Capable of working independently when needed.
• Understands food safety and sanitation processes.
• Will be on feet for most of the day and walk long distances.
• Adheres to safe work practices.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.

• Demonstrates ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Performs other duties as required.
