Position Overview
The Server is responsible for greeting and serving food and/or beverages while creating a warm atmosphere for guests and building a culture of teamwork. Must be well organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate effective communication skills and deliver excellent customer service. Full-Time or Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide immediate attention to all guests upon seating, greet warmly and distribute menus if necessary.
- Ensure guests have filled water glasses while they decide on order, answer questions and make suggestion.
- Take food and/or drink orders; inform cooks about any special instructions.
- When serving meal place dishes by course in front of each person; serve from the left of the person.
- Check back within first few bites to ensure guest satisfaction; replenish drinks condiments as necessary.
- Remove soiled dishes as guests finish, no dirty/empty dishes should be left sitting on the table.
- Suggest dessert or after dinner drinks.
- Verify accuracy of guest check prior to delivering to table.
- Handle all cash and credit cards as applicable from guest charges as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
- Keep tables, dining area and server station clean and tidy at all times.
- Maintain knowledge of menu items including ingredients, preparation and cooking methods.
- Maintain knowledge of draft beer including type, producer, flavor profile, serving portion.
- Maintain knowledge of wine menu including types/varietals, producer, flavor profiles and serving portions.
- Maintain knowledge of cocktail menu including ingredients, preparation, flavor profiles and serving portions.
- Report any complaints to manager as soon as they occur.
- Perform side work, and end of shift duties as assigned.
- Attend staff meetings as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
- High School required, must be at least 18 years old.
- 1-year server experience preferred, but not necessary.
- All Servers are required to take Learn2Serve Training for Alcohol, Food Handling prior to or within 30 days of employment.
- Demonstrated quality verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including evenings and weekends.
- Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
