Job summary

Avvio Millbury, part of Newport Restaurant Group, is hiring a Server to guide guests through our menu with genuine enthusiasm and to deliver attentive service from greeting to departure. You will work in a lively, high-energy dining room, building knowledge of Italian cuisine and beverage options while collaborating with bussers, bartenders, and food runners to create memorable experiences for every guest.

Applicants should be at least 18, have a passion for hospitality, and be flexible to work

Qualifications

• Prior serving experience in a full-service restaurant preferred.
• TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol certification (or willingness to obtain before first shift).
• Massachusetts age requirement (18+) to serve alcohol.

Responsibilities

• Guide guests through the menu with confidence and enthusiasm.
• Deliver attentive, personalized service from seating to departure.
• Take orders, communicate with kitchen, and manage meal pace.
• Handle payments, split checks, and assist teammates as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

No two shifts are exactly the same, but here’s the heart of the role:

• Guide guests through the menu with confidence and genuine enthusiasm for the food and beverage program


• Deliver attentive, personalized service from the moment the guests are seated to the moment they leave


• Take orders accurately, communicate with the kitchen, and manage the pace of the meal so it always feels effortless


• Handle payments, split checks, and table needs with professionalism and efficiency


• Work closely with bussers, food runners, and the bar team to make every table a great experience

WHO YOU ARE

You don’t need to have worked in fine dining to thrive here. You do need:

• A genuine passion for hospitality and a desire to make every guest feel like the most important person in the room


• Strong menu knowledge and the ability to make thoughtful recommendations on food and drinks


• The ability to stay organized, composed, and attentive when you’re managing a full section


• Clear, warm communication with both guests and teammates throughout every shift

QUALIFICATIONS

On paper, you bring:

• Prior serving experience in a full-service restaurant preferred


• TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol certification (or willingness to obtain before your first shift)


• Must meet Massachusetts’ minimum age requirement (18+) to serve alcohol


• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
