Job summary

San Jose State University is seeking a Police Sergeant to supervise an assigned shift of officers and support personnel, ensuring the protection of life and property on campus and the enforcement of applicable laws within the university’s jurisdiction.

Reporting to the Police Lieutenant and operating under the direction of the Operations Division Commander, you will lead, mentor, and evaluate staff while upholding the department’s standards of service, integrity, and accountability.

Job description

Reporting to the Police Lieutenant, the Sergeant is responsible for supervision of an assigned shift of officers and support personnel and is responsible for the protection of life and property and enforcement of pertinent laws within the jurisdiction of the University Police Department. The Sergeant is responsible for the performance of his/her duties under the general supervision of the Operations Division Commander.
