Job summary

South Carolina Department of Corrections in Columbia seeks a shift supervisor to oversee security personnel and maintain inmate safety.

You will supervise, coach, and evaluate staff; conduct shift briefings; perform routine security checks; monitor inmate movement; investigate complaints; ensure compliance with training and policies.

A high school diploma and relevant experience are required; a related degree may substitute; completion of SCDC basic training within six months is required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and 18 months experience in correctional, security, military, or police work.
• Degree in criminal justice or related field may substitute for 1/2 of required experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months of entry into the position.
