DHSPD officers enforce applicable laws, DHS policies, and shelter rules while working in close coordination with shelter operations staff and local law enforcement agencies. DHSPD presence serves as both a deterrent to criminal activity and a rapid response resource for security incidents, emergencies, and safety concerns within shelter environments.
