Job summary

Plante Moran is seeking a Search Optimization Specialist to lead firm-wide SEO, AEO, and GEO initiatives. You will partner with content teams, subject matter experts, and web teams to shape search-first content strategies and ensure visibility in organic search, featured snippets, and AI-generated answers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in SEO, content strategy, digital marketing, or search-focused roles (B2B preferred).
• Hands-on experience with enterprise SEO tools (Conductor, SEMrush, Moz, or similar).
• Strong understanding of modern SEO fundamentals including technical, on-page optimization, and authority signals.
• Working knowledge of AEO (featured snippets, voice search) and GEO (AI-generated answers) concepts.
• Ability to translate search data into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong presentation abilities.
• Understanding of buyer’s journey and how search maps to content and conversion.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement firm-wide search optimization strategy across SEO, AEO, and GEO to increase organic visibility and share of voice.
• Collaborate with content, digital marketing, and subject matter experts to shape search-first content strategies.
• Conduct keyword, query, and topic research for traditional and AI-based discovery.
• Optimize on-page elements (titles, metadata, structure, schema) and guide off-page optimization (backlinks, PR).
• Ensure content is structured for featured snippets, voice search, and AI-generated answers.
• Monitor rankings, visibility, and AI citations; share insights with marketing stakeholders.
• Develop and evolve search tooling and measurement approaches with analytics teams.
• Establish best practices through documentation, collaboration, and education across teams.
• Guide development of staff-authored content with SMEs, including interview-led thought leadership.
• Make recommendations for site structure, content governance, and SEO fundamentals with web/UX teams.
• Contribute to content governance standards and optimization processes.
• Support integrated campaigns by embedding search optimization from planning to execution.
