Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer (level 5) in Roy, UT to support the Sentinel program. You will engage in use case development, requirements allocation, architectural decomposition, interface definition, and verification across complex missile defense systems.

The role requires advanced MBSE skills, DoD Secret clearance eligibility, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure traceability from requirements to model-based designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12+ years of experience, or master's with 10+, or PhD with 8+ years.
• US Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance and ability to obtain TS/SAP as required.
• 1 year of experience managing requirements in DOORS.
• 3 years of SEIT (Systems Engineering and Integration and Test) processes.
• 3 years of MBSE experience using Cameo or similar tools.
• 1 year of Agile experience with JIRA/Confluence.
• 1 year of experience supporting trades studies.
• 3 years of experience with one or more: C2, physical security, cybersecurity, communications systems, facility design, or military aerospace development.

Responsibilities

• Work with technical teams and stakeholders to mature large program architecture content.
• Develop and incorporate system requirements and ensure proper modeling representation.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer (level 5). This position is in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

The Sentinel program has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Systems Engineer to join the team supporting activities including use case development, requirements definition / allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

• Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts.
• Work with both technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature architecture content of large programs design.
• Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure that they are properly represented in the model.
• Develop systems architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture (behavioral, structural, analytical).
• Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.
• Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes (for model development, tool integration, and team integration).

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with 12 years of experience; or master's degree with 10 years of experience; or PhD with 8 years of experience
• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
• Must have the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
• 1 year of experience managing requirements in DOORS
• 3 years of experience working with Systems Engineering and Integration and Test (SEIT) processes
• 3 years of experience working with MBSE tools (Cameo)
• 1 year of experience with Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA/Confluence)
• 1 year of experience supporting trades studies
• 3 years of experience with one or more of the following: C2, physical security, cybersecurity, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
• Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model
• Experience in SysML or UPDM modeling languages
• Proficiency with the DoDAF, UAF, or other modeling frameworks
• Experience modeling with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw (No Magic, Inc.) or other architecture modeling tools
• Experience using tools to model large systems with multiple developers
• Experience in Software and/or Hardware design
• Experience in documenting Interface Control Documents, Interface Requirement Specifications, and Interface Description Documents
• Experience in the military aerospace development environment
• Experience with weapon systems
• Experience exporting documentation out of a model-based environment
• Experience with Agile Development
• Experience with ICBM weapon system sustainment engineering and integration
• Experience with complex system development on large programs
