Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer (level 6) for the Sentinel program in Roy, UT.

You will support use case development, requirements allocation, interface definitions, and model-based systems engineering activities across multiple disciplines. The role requires a DoD Secret clearance, strong collaboration, and experience with Cameo/MagicDraw/DOORS to develop architecture content and system design artifacts.

Qualifications

  • BS STEM with 14+ years experience; MS with 12+; PhD with 9+ years.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance; ability to obtain enhanced security clearances.
  • Experience using model-based systems engineering tools and methods.
  • Strong program execution and cross-discipline collaboration.
  • Experience leading teams in large-scale system development.

Responsibilities

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer (level 6) in support of the Sentinel program. This opportunity is in Roy, UT. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do

The Sr. Staff Systems Engineer will join the team supporting activities including use case development, requirements definition / allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.

Specific duties
  • Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts.
  • Work with both technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature architecture content of large programs design.
  • Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure that they are properly represented in the model.
  • Develop systems architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture (behavioral, structural, analytical).
  • Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.
  • Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes (for model development, tool integration, and team integration).
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with 14 years of experience; or Master's degree with 12 years of experience; or PhD with 9 years of experience
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • 8 years of experience implementing and using model-based systems engineering tools, practices, and methods.
  • 5 years of experience demonstrating strong program execution skills; demonstrated ability to meet program technical, cost, and schedule milestones.
  • 5 years of experience exhibiting strong partnership/collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner cross-discipline within a team.
  • 4 years of experience with one or more of the following: Launch system, facility design, military aerospace development
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model
  • Experience with ICBM weapon system sustainment engineering and integration
  • Communication and leadership skills and experience leading small teams in a dynamic work environment
  • Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production
  • Experience with technical reviews for large scale and complex system development
  • Experience in documenting Interface Control Documents, Interface Requirement Specifications, and Interface Description Documents
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS
  • Experience modeling with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw (No Magic, Inc.) or other architecture modeling tools
  • Experience with Agile Development
  • Experience with complex system development on large programs

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $166,500.00 - $249,700.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
