Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Principal Supply Chain Subcontract Specialist to support the Sentinel (GBSD) program in the SDS division. The role is based in Roy, Utah, with 10% travel and no initial clearance requirement, but a Secret clearance may be needed for advancement.

You will lead cradle-to-grave subcontract administration, negotiate awards, coordinate with contracts, engineering and quality teams, and manage supplier performance to meet delivery schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience; or 3 years with a master’s degree; or 9 years with a high school diploma (or equivalent) in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with FAR provisions and GSC policies and procedures.
• Experience cradle-to-grave subcontract administration.
• Experience preparing subcontractor RFP packages and supporting the NGC acquisition process.
• Experience preparing and presenting briefings to leadership (internal/external).

Responsibilities

• Identify strategies to reduce cost and manage risk through strategic negotiations.
• Manage performance of subcontracts and ensure compliance with laws and company policies.

Job Responsibilities

• Negotiate and coordinate additions, deletions, or modifications to subcontracts.
• Participate with contracts administration and purchasing to develop subcontract policies and procedures.

• Coordinate and collaborate with key stakeholders such as contracts, engineering, quality, supplier development, planning, operations, program and end‑users.
• Develop subcontract specifications, work statements, and terms and conditions for procurement of specialized materials, equipment, and/or services.
• Prepare bid packages, conduct bidders conferences, analyze and evaluate proposals, negotiate subcontract provisions, select or recommend subcontractors, write awards, and administer resulting subcontracts.
• Evaluate and monitor supplier quality and reliability in conjunction with the quality organization, as well as supplier ability to support required delivery schedules.
• Identify strategies and opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency and manage risk through strategic and targeted negotiations.
• Manage performance of subcontracts, ensuring compliance with all public law requirements as well as company policies and procedures including import/export regulations.
• Employ sound business practices and assess supplier performance as part of follow‑up activities.
• Ensure that appropriate documentation is provided to logistics/transportation & warehouse organization so that proper receipt is recorded.
• Manage and develop strategic/key suppliers.
• Review and approve supplier payment as needed.
• Utilize process tools such as Lean Six Sigma with suppliers to drive quality and efficiency and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience; or 3 years with a master’s degree; or 9 years of related experience may be accepted with a high school diploma (or equivalent) in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with FAR provisions and GSC policies and procedures.
• Experience with cradle‑to‑grave subcontract administration.
• Experience preparing subcontractor Request for Proposal (RFP) packages and supporting the NGC acquisition process.
• Experience preparing and presenting briefings to leadership (internal/external).

Preferred Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret level security clearance (investigation within the past 6 years).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to provide accurate supplier invoice and accrual forecasting.
• Ability and willingness to contribute to the completion of organizational projects and goals.
• Proven leadership ability in high‑tempo, multi‑task environments within aerospace/defense.
• Experience working in regulated industries, specifically aerospace and defense acquisition.
• Proficiency with SAP (or equivalent enterprise resource planning) for contract and procurement management.
• Self‑starter with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, driving continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated skill and ability to perform professional tasks.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Problem‑solving aptitude to develop solutions and drive resolution to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.

Salary & Compensation

Primary level salary range: $81,400.00 – $122,000.00. Salary offers consider scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions.

Work Schedule

This role follows a 9/80 schedule, allowing employees who work a nine‑hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
