Job summary

Loudoun County Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS) seeks dedicated Recreation Instructors to oversee programs in our newly established state-of-the-art sensory room, designed to assist individuals with disabilities, at the Ashburn Recreation & Community Center. In this role you will conduct interactive activities, foster a safe and inclusive atmosphere, and ensure proper use of sensory equipment.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
• Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently.
• Preferred: CTRS Certification.
• Must undergo a criminal background check and obtain CPR/first aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and guides participants during programming by maintaining proper use of equipment and modifications based on participant skills and abilities.
• Motivates participants and upholds center policies while instructing classes.
• Oversees participant conduct and reviews intake forms prior to involvement.
• Prepares for programming with setup and breakdown of equipment and materials.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for participants, families, and caregivers before, during, and after class.
• Communicate effectively with staff and all patrons.
• Stays up to date with industry standards and subject matter trends.
• Additional responsibilities pertinent to the role may be undertaken.
