Job summary

Loudoun County PRCS seeks Recreation Instructors to teach arts and crafts, music, dance, cooking, sports, camps, wellness, STEM and more. You will create engaging learning experiences for a diverse population including youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

Responsibilities include class setup and teardown, supervising participants, maintaining safety, delivering clear instruction, and promoting programs. Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of 8th grade.
• Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and 30 pounds frequently.
• Six months of experience teaching subject matter classes.
• Bilingual skills preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Must undergo a criminal background check.
• Schedules are flexible and can include morning, evening, and weekend hours.

• Motivates class participants and upholds center policies while teaching classes.
• Prepares for class with setup and breakdown of equipment and materials.
• Instructs and monitors participants during class with proper form and modifications as needed.
• Completes administrative responsibilities for developing, planning, and leading classes.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for participants and staff.
• Promotes and seeks new participants and provides exceptional customer service.
• Stays up to date with industry standards and trends.
• Communicates effectively with staff and patrons.
• Participates in monthly meetings, events, and trainings.

Recreation Instructors teach arts and crafts, music, dance, cooking, sports, camps, wellness, STEM, and other recreation programming. Successful candidates will exemplify effective communication and planning skills. PRCS serves a diverse population of youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Motivates class participants and upholds center policies and procedures while teaching classes.
• Prepares for class promptly with set-up and breakdown of equipment and materials.
• Instructs and monitors participants during class by showing proper form, use of equipment, and modifications based on participant skills and abilities.
• Completes all administrative responsibilities associated with developing, planning, and leading classes.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for participants, staff, and other instructors before, during, and after class.
• Actively promotes and seeks new participants for all classes and provides exceptional customer service.
• Stays up to date with industry standards and subject matter trends.
• Communicate effectively with staff and all patrons.
• Participates in monthly meetings, events, and in-services.
• May perform additional duties related to their position.

Hiring salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of 8th grade.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Six (6) months of experience teaching subject matter classes.
• Bilingual skills are preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification.

Must undergo a criminal background check.

Schedules are flexible and can include morning, evening, and weekend hours. Hours vary based on the client, the center, and holiday needs.
